…When “thankful” is the right word

18 May

Those quiet minutes with my laptop and cat sitting on my bed. The rain is gone and sun is peaking through the clouds again. The sun makes the world look pretty. It keeps us warm. The birds are chirping and i can see an aeroplane in the sky. All these make me smile. And these kind of moments make me realise how thankful I am of everything which happened, which made me today the girl, the daughter, the sister, the cousin, the friend I am.
Im thankful to my parents, for everything they did for me, for all the love and care they gave me, for having always stood by me through thick and thin. Im thankful to my family. Im thankful for those smiles even from strangers because sometimes they simply made my day.
Im thankful of those beautiful moments with my friends, all those wonderful time we have spent, laughing, kidding around. I know that I’m safe with them, whatever happens and I feel privileged for calling them my friends. These moments might probably never come again, but the memories are enough to be thankful for.
I have learnt that all kind of relationships are hard to maintain. All of us are different and have a unique way of viewing things. When the thoughts of different people clash, it results in breaking of relationships. Im therefore thankful for being able to respect the decision of everyone and their way of thinking and for being patient.
Everybody has a past. Consisting of both good & bad memories. Im thankful for all those people who came into my life and left for some reasons or another. They were part of my life and in the end when the jigsaws fall into place, you realise that whatever happened was for the best and you realised what matters and what not. And Im thankful for that…
When someone is in your life for a REASON . . . It is
usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have
come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you
with guidance and support, to aid you physically,
emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a
godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason
you need them to be.
Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an
inconvenient time, this person will say or do something
to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realise is that our need has been met, our
desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you
sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.
…And Im thankful that he is part of my life…
Im thankful because those moments made me happy, they remind me how great it is to have wonderful people in my life. Im thankful for the life I have.

Indian Wear

13 May

red-wedding-lenghaIm soo fond of indian dress, i love wearing them even though on very rare occasion such as weddings. I  get completely completely floored by the beautiful range of lehenga cholis, saris, salwar kameez that are nothing less than perfection. Infact Im quite amazed by everthing related to indian culture – they seem so colourful and beautiful.  Its not that i love wearing those colourful heavy dresses, but i just love watching them. I like the simple ones with beautiful designs.

CUSTOM-MADE_02

I just added this beautiful green dress to my wish list, which i saw on Kaneesha.com. The colour is fantastic and as you can see it is simple yet classy.

The internet provides an infinite range of shopping destinations for indian wears. I had ordered a lehenga on my cousins wedding some years back. You just have to give proper measurements and add some notes if you want some additional stuffs added to it, and pay for it. I got my lehenga about two and a half weeks after; however my mom did have to adjust it a little bit. But It was exactly as i saw it 🙂

Nowadays we can find a lot of western influences and modern designs that have been incorporated into the basic structure of any Indian outfit – and maybe thats what makes it sooo classy. However I wouldnt mind wearing a totally traditional indian outfit (*for picture shots ONLY*)

Saris are my favorites – I possessed none 😦 They have a sensuous and elegant look. However I did wear it quite a few times for fashion shows at school and my brother’s weddings(that was 5years back :() I found it hard to walk with it for the first time i wore it, especially with high heels, fearing that it will simply fall off me, but later on I was comfy with it. There are several styles of draping for saris, and I think I tried almost all of them, just to see how they looked. My neighbour is an expert “sari draper” 😉

Hehe…so this is my wish list. I think I really need a trip to India to get these 😉 I love the flowing folds of saris. And the different designs for cholis, and the embroidered materials. Also what really makes indian clothes nice is the colours – so colourfully trendy.

Rings

12 May

Last night I was looking at my jewellery collection and i found out that i got so many rings, most of which i never wear or I’ve never even worn. I have never really been fond of rings, but I always wear one, my awesome pearl ring – which is priceless for me. There are many reasons why people wear rings. I have noticed (and even confirmed it) that guys always see whether a girl wears some ring before going to talk to her. Ahaaa! 😉 I must admit that sometimes I do glance at some cute guys hands as well to see if there are any signs of ‘commitments’. Hehe! … simply out of curiosity ^^

Rings symbolise different things for different people.

Rings are a great symbol to commemorate special events and occasions. At the forefront are the rings for wedding and engagement, which are usually inlaid with a diamond, the size of which is dependent on your financial capacity and personal choice. It is used to symbolize the couple’s strong commitment and undying love to each other – pour le meilleur et (surtout ;)) pour le pire! These are usually worn upon the fourth finger of the left hand. This finger is thought to have the “vein of Love” which is the shortest vein to the heart. 😉

Even graduating from a university can also be celebrated with a class ring. Nuns and priests joining in the service of their religious order also get their own rings.

In modern fashion, there is a new trend of celebrating your single-ship with the “single ring”, as opposed to being committed. It shows that you’re single, available and looking for a partner.

Other rings like the mood ring (a ring that changes in color depending on the mood you’re in), the birthstone ring (a ring set with a corresponding gem of the month you were born), the mothers’ ring (a ring inlaid with her children’s birthstones) are also common.

Update: Birthstones are gems that have been linked to the months of the year and assigned particular characteristics such as innocence and health. Many people consider it lucky to wear the stone associated with their birthday.

Toe rings are also trendy these days. They seem to be ruling the roost as far as fashion for the feet is concerned these days.

…If there is one rule that never changes its the fact that all women want to look good, from HEAD to TOE 😉
