.:::The perfect dreams of a girl:::.

16 Apr

When she was small, she dreamt of a perfect world. A future where everything will be bright, beautiful.  She dreamt of beautiful castles, palaces, beautiful dresses. She dreamt of a perfect career, a perfect job, a job she loves, great colleagues, superb working atmosphere. She dreamt of a  delightfully handsome, charming, clever and refined prince with whom she will fall in love and with whom she is going to live the rest of her life happily ever after.  She dreamt of the perfect love story, where the prince gallantly rescues her from the rain when she falls, sustaining a sprained ankle, carrying her in his arms and she has her first french kiss which will last for an eternity. She dreamt of a perfect wedding wearing the perfect white wedding dress with a nice bouquet and saying yes to the guy she fell in love with  those twinkles in her eyes. She dreamt of the perfect ring, which willl symbolise lots of things. She dreamt of having cute and beautiful children with golden curly hair and bright eyes. She dreamt of a perfect small house, full of laughter, of joy and a garden where there will be a dog playing and flowers blooming, and maybe a small fountain where she will sit by the moonlight with the one she loves. She dreamt of watching her children grow into adults and she dreamt of being by the side of the one she loves till she grows old and be each other’s support.  She dreamt of a love which will never fade but instead increase day by day.  She dreamt of a lifetime of respect, care, sharing, laughter, cries, joys, fun.

And then one day, she wakes up and realise that dreams are but illusions. She does grow up into a beautiful princess but there is no perfect future, no perfect job, no perfect colleagues, no perfect love. The perfect fairy tale has disappeared. She stumbles, falls, fails, cries, gets rejected, gets hurt, even hurts others, lies, betrays, make mistakes, learn lessons. She just lives by the law of nature, she lives each day of her life, hoping for a better tomorrow. She does get a job but not the perfect one, not the one she dreamt of. And…there is no delightfully handsome, charming, clever and refined prince who will take her breath away. But there are some “princes” which come and then leave, but none to rescue her from the rain when she falls. The french kiss is finally not so magical. She finds herself adapting to situations she never dreamt of.  She has to sweep today’s possibility under tomorrow’s rug until she can’t anymore. Until she finally understands…and thats where she opens her eyes and realised that it was just a fairy tale…a mere illusion. Then she starts to live; instead of wanting the perfect job, the job she loves, she works for money. She spends most of her time working and working. No time to think about anything else. Love…becomes just a random play. She turns to things or people she can “trust” but she doesn’t really deep inside.  When she seeks for a life partner, she no longer seeks for a lifetime of love, she seeks for a lifetime of security. And even if she does happen to “love” someone, soon this illusion disappears, love fades and routine takes place. Her perfect life partner is now someone who instead of watching the moonlight by the water fountain, will just have a 5 mins dinner with her two days a week. Whether she likes that person or not, it doesnt matter as long as he is the right person for a “perfect” future…

Sometimes reality has a way of sneaking up and biting her in the ass. And when the dam bursts, all she can do is swim. The world of pretend is a cage, not a cocoon. she can only lie to herself for so long.  She is tired, she is scared, denying it doesn’t change the truth. Sooner or later she has to put aside her denial and faces the world… and walks the lonely road, unaware of its destination.

But as Meredith said, its hard for her to let go of that fairy tale entirely because she has that smallest bit of hope, of faith that one day she will open her eyes and all this will come true…

Your dreams are just made up of clichés of what you think happiness and bliss means. Even in the most romantic of movies or fairy tales, the main characters don’t live a happy life right from the beginning, they have to go through all sorts of hurdles and then in the end they live ‘happily ever after’.
Would you be happy if your dreams came true? would it be ‘wonderful’ if you had a rosy life where everything turns out right? would it be worthwhile to have a perfect life?
I am of the opinion that you can’t appreciate the sweet without tasting the bitter first. So burst your bubble and live life how it comes, face your fears, break up your routines and do the things that keep you happy. Its up to you to create your happy ending…knights in shining armors no longer exist (armors are too heavy and stink of oil)

    its a “she-character” not a “me-character”
Her dreams are made from all those fairy tales which were read to her when she was small (so dun blame her ;))
Living life how it comes is how she lives her life now…but at some point of life, she sits and thinks, thinks about everything in her life…(LIKE EVERYONE)
Remember she’s out of her bubble now and goes by what seems realistic to her. Her fairy tale was the love story she used to believe in…but which is gone now.

This song best illustrates your post:

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
    When hope was high
    And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he’ll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I’m living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.

I think these dreams, some people manage to live it actually in reality. And the world out there is not that bad either, pou qui ban dimoune commence describe happiness as mere clichés.

I agree irfaan 🙂 many ppl do come to manage to live these dreams and many dont as well! And we cant complain of the present we live in…coz life is a gift!

    That was so cool!

If a guy knows how to listen to her princess’s heart, I’m sure that he can really be the one to rescue her from the rain when she falls 🙂

And I strongly believe that this girl’s perfect dream can be some day the girl’s perfect life ! It’s all a matter of meeting ‘The One’ and having the same taste of life 🙂

  8. Maliha April 23, 2009 at 6:39 pm #

The character here no longer believes in “the one”!!

(…But I believe that that someone somewhere is made for me 😉 & only time has the answer)

    Hi Maliha:)

Well all what you’ve written here holds true in the sense that being a girl and especially when we are among our friends,we tend to discuss about all this..which is actually ‘The perfect life’..Somewhere I believe..there are girls who do achieve what they really wish for..I know some of them:)lolzz..But there are also a few ones who are not so lucky…

However, I think that we,girls, have got the strength to bear all these….And that is why we are so special:)

So girls do not fear to dream but do not dream with wide opened eyes
and do have faith in your beliefs..You won’t be disappointed:)
And I sincerely wish we meet the right one…one perfect day:)

You will have to work on a marriage – otherwise you will not find paradise.
A good start could be to get married at a beautiful French castle with an ambiance

  12. Maliha August 16, 2009 at 4:41 pm #

@Lavanda: Before trying to work on a marriage think i better start by making my current relationship work… 😉 There’s still time for marriage 😉
